| Question 11:   Where can I find more information about automobile insurance rate filings approved by the Board?
Decisions of the Board related to automobile insurance rate filings are posted on the Board’s website at the following link: http://www.pub.nl.ca/phpwebsite/AI_orders2022.php
Accompanying each Board Order approving new rates is a rate filing summary document. This document contains general information about the types of changes included in the rate filing such as the average overall rate level changes by coverage, average written premium levels by territory and proposed effective dates for implementation. Some Board Orders also include rating examples. The rating examples are designed to provide estimated premium levels for some of the most common drivers and vehicles on the road. These examples may be used by consumers to help them understand how a rate filing will impact the premiums they are charged. Please note that the information contained within the rate filing summary and rating examples is prepared by the filing insurer and submitted to the Board for informational purposes only. Actual premiums charged by insurers are based on the risk characteristics of individual policyholders and may differ from the examples provided.    |
